7 Traits of An Amazing Virtual Assistant

We have worked with so many amazing virtual assistants over the years!  We often get questions about the qualities we look for in virtual assistants when we are hiring and matching them with clients.  While many of these qualities are proven over time, this is what we have seen consistently from our best VAs:

Amazing Virtual Assistants…

  1. Are Diligent with their hours & provide time tracking.

It’s easy to lose track of time while you’re working.  We find that the best VAs tack their time using a tool like Toggl, and then share these reports with their clients.  Not only does it create accountability in a virtual work relationship, it also allows everyone to see the amount of time different tasks require. Check out more info about the value of time tracking for virtual assistants and entrepreneurs.

  2. Are able to create a work environment for productivity.

When you work from home, there are countless distractions. Our most successful assistants have intentionally created environments and schedules that minimize distractions.  This allows them to be effective, professional, and consistent with their performance. 3. Check in with their clients consistently. (Weekly meetings, daily check-ins).

When virtual assistants establish consistent communication with their clients, it allows a better workflow with their tasks.  It also gives their clients more opportunities to ask and answer questions. Read “How Do I Communicate With My Team?” here!

  4. Have an ownership mentality.

The best virtual assistants treat their clients’ businesses as their own.  It is important to them that they see their clients succeed in everything they do. Check out Tracy’s Top 3 Tips for Being a Virtual Assistant here.

  5. Bring their heart.

A great VA is more than just a skilled assistant.  They bring their heart into their work, and the difference is tangible.

  6. Is proactive.

If your virtual assistant waits until you ask them for help, you may find yourself frustrated from time to time.  We encourage our VAs to be proactive in taking on assignments and work that falls within their zone of genius. 7. Is Willing to learn new things.

When you’re partnering with an entrepreneur, their business will grow and change! We encourage our VAs to learn new skills, and we even offer resources to help with skill learning. Learn more about become a Rock Solid Assistant.
